The heart of the Hartenberger lamps is the newly developed electronic control unit. Traditional reed switches, known for their mechanical delicacy, have been replaced by robust semi conductors which are sensitive to changes in magnetic fields.

The plug in electronic is available in 2 versions:

A micro processor controls and monitors the following functions:
-a magnetic field monitor prevents the unit from being activated by a foreign magnet.
-a short circuit limiter regulates the current when the unit is switched on, thus protecting the delicate high performance bulb.
-SOS flashing distress signal in accordance with the internationally recognised Morse alphabet.
