| The core of both lamps is the micro processor controlled switch. The magnetic plunger which controls the lamps is completely independent of any mechanical connection to the inside of the housing. A hall sensor, senses the movement of the switch and the resulting changes in a magnetic field. The micro processor receives these signals and converts the commands into functional commands which change the brightness of the lamp to either 50%, 75%, 100% or 125% of full capacity. The deeper the switch is pressed, the brighter the light. Using controlled over voltage, the series HLX halogen bulbs can produce more than 25% power above their normal rating. |
The lamp has a discharge protection which shuts the electronics
down when the cell voltage in each cell falls below 0.9V. thus protecting
the cells from long term damage. The lamp has a remaining burn time display and additionally warns the user of the imminent shut down by flashing the main lamp 3 times. Just before the lamp shuts down, it will blink continuously. If the lamp is turned on to a lower power setting, it will return to a continuous light. The switch can be used to send Morse messages, or an automatic SOS Morse signal ( 3 x short, 3 x long, 3 x short) can be activated. The mechanical transport lock ensures maximum safety and security when the lamp is not in use and/or in transit.
